Technical Officer

 Our client is the Home Improvement Agency for Leeds, highly regarded for providing a range of services for older and disabled people to help them to remain living independently in their own homes. As an independent Registered Society with charitable status covering the whole of the Leeds Metropolitan District area, we have been providing services since 1987.


They are expanding their Technical Department, providing an exciting opportunity for you to join this dynamic team responsible for providing home adaptations and technical services to support clients to stay safe, secure, warm, and independent in their own home. The role will work closely with a wide range of clients, architectural design services, contractors, Leeds City Council, and health and social care organisations.


Experience in a construction related field or housing repair/adaptation is essential, as is the ability to produce schedule of works, ideally understanding the needs of vulnerable clients, including disabled, older people and children. Knowledge and experience of disabled adaptations would be an advantage.


You will have responsibility for managing several cases simultaneously, from inception and design, through to delivery and completion. Knowledge of current planning and building regulation practices, health and safety legislation (CDM 2015 requirements), as well as experience of monitoring contractor’s performance and quality is essential. Experience of managing projects of varying size/complexity and meeting client expectations, is also a key requirement.


A working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is essential, and use of AutoCAD software would be an advantage. Minimum HNC/HND building related qualification is desirable, but consideration will be given to those who can demonstrate the relevant role experience.

Hours:             37 hours per week.  Hybrid working and flexi-time system in place

Salary:             £28,990 - £32,160 per annum depending on experience

Pension:         Auto-enrolment into the Social Housing Pension Scheme, with an employer

contribution to a maximum of 5%

Holiday:          25 days p.a. increasing to 29 days after 4 years’ service, plus 8 statutory holidays
